The Boardwalk links the excitement of Coney’s colorful amusements and the sweeping calm of beach and ocean. It is an enduring symbol of New York City and its most famous playground, Coney Island.

Coney Island offers an ideal summer respite from the hectic and steamy city.  With nearly 3 miles of sandy beaches, Coney Island’s sunny skies and rolling waves make for the perfect getaway.  If being active at the beach is more your idea of fun than just catching some rays, Coney Island also offers exciting recreation opportunities.  With courts for beach volleyball, handball, and basketball as well as playgrounds and amusement rides, the beach and boardwalk can provide hours of entertainment.

Sheepshead Bay is a bay separating the mainland of Brooklyn, New York City, from the eastern portion of Coney Island. The mouth of the bay is about 1.0 mile (1.6 km) southwest of Marine Park, Brooklyn.

Coney Island is well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort. In recent years, the area has seen the opening of MCU Park stadium which has become home to the Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball team, as well as the New York Cosmos professional soccer club. In addition, Coney Island has opened a new amusement park among several adjacent ones.

Blizzard 2016 – the Day After

Sunday’s brilliant sunshine and gently rising temperatures provided a respite from the blizzard that paralyzed New York and part of the East Coast.

DSC_5906 copy

Overall snowfall of 26.8 inches in Central Park made it New York’s second biggest winter storm since records began in 1869, and Saturday’s 26.6 inches made for a single-day record in the city. Some of the blizzard’s heaviest snow bands wound up over New York City and Long Island, sending snow totals spiking higher than the 12-18 inches forecasters predicted Thursday.

Walking With Frida Kahlo at the NY Botanical Garden…in 2015 II

DSC_4482 copyThe New York Botanical Garden is a playground for a photographer like me; everywhere I was looking at there was something interesting for my type of photography, something from which I could’ve translate in some design.

DSC_4355 copy

In a beautiful explosion of colors, textures, contrasts, saturation, like that of the New York Botanical Garden, and Frida Kahlo show, I was left in a photographer paradise…well, at least mine kind of.

Enjoy, give your rate, thank you!

Walking With Frida Kahlo at the NY Botanical Garden…in 2015 part I

DSC_4105 copyIts summer in New York, and the Botanical Garden is showing  Frida Kahlo’s exhibition.

Inspired by her strong contrasts, the music and dancers, I was intensively picturing the ballet of colors and forms of the beautiful garden. That’s why this work is presented in two parts:because of the amount of photos.DSC_4109 copy

Happy and relaxed people around me, made it easy the walk for almost three hours, under one of these amazing sunny days of NYC.

This work is my homage to the great woman that was Frida Kahlo, one inspiration, a woman pioneer in so many senses, including in her choice of in what side of the border she choose to live, love and create.

Ole Frida!

The five artists participant, Nancy Cohen, Fran Kornfeld , Ursula Clark  and Junia Flavia d’Affonseca (above) and Sylvia Schwartz (not shown), share a common bond; they have all done work in handmade paper at Dieu Donné(*) at some point in their careers.

Their backgrounds and artistic disciplines are highly diverse, but in each case, personal experimentation and development led to a distinct interpretation of this ageless medium, and expanding its possibilities.

Walking at Central Park During the Winter

Central Park, New York City.

At the heart of Manhattan, its lung and playground, place for loving and for crying, for long and relaxing walks or for run from the bikes…for a photographer, it’s a playground of illusions, where I go again and again , and never felt bored or at the end of my creativity.

Endless possibilities, Central Park is the “plaza” where artists – not only photographers, but writers, painters, singers, music players, performers and so many more – can easily put to work their imagination…
